Saira Shah’s father is Afghan, but she grew up in England. She became a journalist and went to Afghanistan to cover the mujahadin’s war against the Soviets. She later made an acclaimed documentary about the Taliban called “Under the Veil.” Now she’s written a memoir called “The Storyteller’s Daughter.” Shah tells Jim Fleming how her father used stories to give her a sense of her ethnic cultural birthright and how those stories helped her when she worked in Afghanistan.
