German biologist and philosopher Andreas Weber certainly knows all about things like metabolism and life cycles, but he’s more interested in talking about love as a basic biological principle, or what it might be like to perceive the world as a flower does, feeling the texture of the soil and eating the rays of sunlight. He says life is all about eating and being eaten, which may sound gruesome, but as Steve Paulson discovered, it’s almost a miraculous process. Weber is the author of “Being Edible: Toward a Mystical Biology.”
