Mark was digital editor and producer for TTBOOK from 2017-2024, during which time he braved recording live bees for “Loving Bees,” walked with a woman in search of rocks and mental health care in “Learning to Cope When Mental Health Care Seems Out of Touch,” and went mushing with dogs and dog racers in “Adventure, Trail Snacks and Goofiness: Stories from the Dog-Musher’s Journal.”
On the beer beat, Mark produced “Does Selling Out Make A Difference You Can Taste? and "Fire, Hops and Beer Wagons: The Beer History of Milwaukee." And Mark took us inside a video game world he created himself in “There’s No Pandemic in Animal Crossing.”
Today, he works at PBS Wisconsin. Previously, he's worked for The A.V. Club, Madison's Isthmus weekly paper, and local alt-weekly Tone Madison, writing on beer, nerd culture, video games, film festivals, and the occasional op-ed on the economic value of reclining seats. He has formerly worked as a science communicator for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Chicago, interviewing engineers, computer scientists and Nobel laureate economists about their work and relating their discoveries to a mainstream audience.
In his spare time, Mark falls down internet rabbit holes, builds forts with his niece, and gets bossed around by his chihuahua, Pepper.
