Lidia Yuknavitch’s apocalyptic novel “The Book of Joan” is one of the most stunning examples of climate fiction. It’s the story of a near-future where Earth is decimated and the last few survivors are stranded out in space. It’s a contemporary version of Joan of Arc, set in the smoking ruins of an environmental apocalypse — and also a meditation on climate change, gender and the power of art.
If you want to hear a bit more of "Book of Joan" than we were able to include in the broadcast, give these three readings from Yuknavitch a listen.
