Porochista Khakpour is the author of several books including "Sick: A Memoir" and novels "Sons and Other Flammable Objects" and "The Last Illusion." She was born in Tehran and raised in the Los Angeles area.
Porochista Khakpour has been fighting a mystery illness for as long as she can remember. Eventually, she got a diagnosis — late-stage Lyme disease — but a diagnosis hasn't given her much resolution.
