You may not know who the artist Shepard Fairey is but you probably know his work. In the late 1980s, his “Andre the Giant has a posse” sticker campaign went viral – adorning nearly every skateboard and record shop in America. He later added the word OBEY to the Andre the Giant image and it became iconic.
But it wasn’t until 2008, when he created the iconic Barack Obama HOPE poster, that Shepard Fairey became truly famous. But in his world of skateboarding, graffiti and the hip hop credo to "keep it real", making a poster for a US presidential candidate looks like selling out.
