It's beginning to be possible to get a sense of what went wrong in the recent crisis of capitalism. The eminent cultural geographer at the City University of New York, David Harvey, doesn't focus on subprime loans or lending. Instead he looks at the internal contradictions of capitalism itself. He's written "The Enigma of Capital and the Crises of Capitalism," and he tells Steve Paulson that our current economic mess is nothing new.
