Alex Kuczynski

Journalist

The author of BEAUTY JUNKIES, Alex began her career at The New York Times as a reporter in 1997. Before that she worked as a writer and columnist at The New York Observer. She also writes for Vanity Fair, The New York Times Book Review, The New York Times Magazine, O: The Oprah Magazine, T: The New York Times Style Magazine and a number of other publications. She also contributes to National Public Radio.

Born in Peru, she lives in New York and Idaho.

You can read articles by her in September 2011 in T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and in the September 2011 issues of Lucky, Harper’s Bazaar and VOGUE Japan. You can watch her at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, in Lauren Greenfield’s documentary film and curated exhibit, “Beauty CULTure,” on view until November 27, 2011. The film and accompanying photography illustrate the power of the still image in shaping cultural ideals and expectations of feminine beauty. Alex and photographer Susan Anderson will speak at the Annenberg Space on November 17, 2011.

She is currently at work on her next book.
