Mathematician, Actuary
Michael Shackleford is a mathematician and actuary, best known for his work on the mathematics of casino games. He's been a professor of casino math, and created the websites the Wizard of Odds and the Wizard of Vegas. In the late 1990's, while working for the US Social Security Administration, he developed a list of the most popular baby names for each year since 1880. The annual update is still one of the SSA's most popular online publications.
