Mike Tidwell is a freelance journalist who thinks he’s found the biggest environmental catastrophe in America. He tells the story in his book “Bayou Farewell: The Rich Life and Tragic Death of Louisiana’s Cajun Coast.” In this pre-Katrina interview, Tidwell tells Jim Fleming about the time he spent with shrimpers in the bayou country and what they taught him about the devastating price we’re paying for the way we control floods on the Mississippi River. He says we’re going to lose New Orleans to a hurricane unless we do something.
