Literary virtuoso David Mitchell has a new bestseller, “The Bone Clocks.” The British writer, best known for his 2004 novel “Cloud Atlas,” is famous for the intricate structure of his novels - which weave together multiple narrators and even different literary genres  - all within the same book. He’s done it again with “The Bone Clocks,” which veers from the story of a young runaway girl, to a cosmic battle between two groups of immortal beings.

In this FRESH and EXTENDED interview, Mitchell tells us why he likes to jump between genres, and how he became obsessed with questions about death and immortality. He begins by reading an excerpt from “The Bone Clocks.”
