April 11 @ Wisconsin Book Festival: "Bootstrapped" with Alissa Quart and Shannon Henry Kleiber

The promise that you can “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” is central to the story of the American dream. Yet could the belief in our own independence also be at the root of our suffering? Alissa Quart (pictured left), Executive Director of the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, considers this question in her new book “Bootstrapped.” Hear Quart in conversation with WPR’s Shannon Henry Kleiber (pictured right) April 11 at 7 p.m. at Madison’s Central Library in a free, live Wisconsin Book Festival event. Kleiber and Quart collaborated on the “Going for Broke” podcast on “To The Best Of Our Knowledge” last year.
