There is a fun answer to this question, posed in the interview with Brian Christian: "the human being is the only animal that 'blank'."
I don't know the source. I heard it years ago. The answer is,
"The human being is the only creature God made that eats when it's not hungry, sleeps when it's not tired, and has sex 12 months of the year."
