Uncle Tom's Cabin

Harriet Beecher Stowe’s anti-slavery novel, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” was first published on this week in 1852.  It’s one of the books that Jay Parini includes in his book, “Promised Land: Thirteen Books That Changed America.”  Parini describes “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” as “Stephen King on steroids.”
