Iraq War in Retrospect
After eight years of engagement, President Obama all US combat forces have left Iraq. As we look back on this extended deployment of American troops, we've been digging through our Boots on the Ground series.
Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez served as Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq from June 2003 to June 2004. He commanded coalition forces during the capture of Saddam Hussein, and managed the revelation about Abu Ghraib. His memoir is called "Wiser in Battle: A Soldier's Story." General Sanchez recalled his service in this candid discussion with Steve Paulson.
