Historian Deborah Harkness studies the history of alchemy and Elizabethan magic.  Her best-selling novels, A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night involve magical historical manuscripts, time travel, and witches and vampires with very impressive academic credentials.  She talks with us about the historical connections between magic and science.
