Alfred McCoy is the author of a book called “The Politics of Heroin: CIA Complicity in the Global Drug Trade.” He explains to Jim Fleming how the CIA made deals with warlords in Asia to help drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan during the Cold War. They succeeded, but at the cost of an explosive growth in the opium trade. Same thing happened with the Taliban. They’re gone, but the heroin trade is booming.

This Is Excrutiating
I was researching the crucifixion of Jesus and it was pointed out that there was nothing in the language to describe the intense anguish caused during the crucifixion, so they invented a word that literally means "out of the cross". So the next time you use that word, think about what it means.
